Track Event Roles
The following roles are required for every track race.
Starter
Starts each race once the Timekeeper and Marshalls confirm they're ready.
How to start a race:
- Ensure all athletes are on their marks
- Check Timekeeper and Marshalls are ready (via walkie talkie)
- Call: "On your marks…" pause, "Set…" pause, BANG (via electronic start device)
Timekeeper
Records finishing times for each race.
- Start the timer on the Starter's signal
- Trigger for each athlete crossing the finish line
- Pass times to the Recorder
Marshalls
Guide athletes through the finish and hand out place cards.
- Stand beyond the finish line
- Hand numbered cards to athletes in finish order (1st, 2nd, 3rd…)
- Guide athletes in order to the Recorder
Recorder
Collects and logs all race results into ResultsHQ.
Hurdles helpers
For hurdles races only:
- Position hurdles in the correct lanes before the race
- Adjust heights for each age group
- Reset any knocked hurdles between heats
