Child Protection

The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 and the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013 legislation was developed to better protect our children.

In conjunction with LANSW and to meet the Act, we ensure that for all Committee members, Age Managers and Coaches over the age of 18 years old have as a prerequisite a current and valid WWCC (Working with Children Check).

Additionally, at LANSW events including Zone and Region Championships, LANSW requires all officials (irrespective if they have a child competing) to have a WWCC.

Parents are exempt under the Working with Children Act when spectating or directly assisting with their child’s age group when their child is present. This also applies when a parent volunteer at an association carnival.
